There is work to do, internally and externally, to continue to confront a world and systems that are racist in their approach and design. Words become meaningless without confrontation and behavioral change. I am spending the years forward in my work to use my privilege to confront those internalized narratives and work to change society together, standing with families adversely affected by care systems. My current work and learning worldwide allow me to engage with families, young people, and people working within the care system space to continue to learn, challenge ideas, and engage in a collective change. We belong to each other, and I hope to continue to learn, live and work within that sentiment as a mother, daughter, wife, sister, friend, colleague, neighbor, teacher, and student.
